Your care table

TopicWhat to doWhy it helps
LightKeep bright and avoid hot direct sun.Firm leaves need light but can be damaged behind heated glass.
WaterCheck root colour, root-ball moisture and pot weight before each watering.Four same-sized pots do not necessarily dry together.
DrainingAfter watering, let all excess drain away.Airy roots do not tolerate constant standing water.
Leaf centreAvoid water in the crown or remove it carefully.Persistent wetness between leaves may encourage rot.
SubstrateUse suitable airy orchid substrate rather than dense potting soil.Thick roots need air and moisture that can be checked.
NutritionFeed sparingly during growth according to the orchid fertiliser label.Salts accumulate more easily in small pots.
After floweringAssess health and flower-stem condition before cutting.A firm green stem and a dry brown stem require different decisions.
WinterKeep bright and frost-free, avoiding cold draughts and radiator heat.Lower water use is no reason for a cold, dry cactus winter.
1. Check moisture

Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.

2. Water slowly

Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.

3. Let it drain

Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.

Four flower displays without a pre-set list

A surprise box invites you to get to know plants when unpacking. In Phalaenopsis, round pale flowers may stand beside strong colours and fine markings. Four orchids are selected for this offer; a fixed variety list and exact colour combination are not promised. Our scene shows one possible combination based on the original image. A different colour is therefore no delivery mistake. This open beginning is part of the box’s appeal: rather than prescribing four names, we observe individual flower forms and later note the actual plants and labels present.

Nine centimetres of pot does not guarantee total height

The offer lists four orchids with nine-centimetre pot size. No fixed delivery height is given or measured from the photograph. Decorative outer pots are not included. Choose a suitable outer pot for each plant from which its growing pot can be removed. A deep, narrow container hiding remaining water makes care harder. Check stability and existing supports after unpacking; carry the plant by its pot rather than the flower stem. Open flowers and buds may differ in remaining life. Four orchids do not promise four flowering phases beginning simultaneously.

A bright group with some space

A well-lit sideboard or bright table position suits them if enough filtered daylight really arrives. Avoid hot direct sun behind glass and settle new plants in gently after transport. Leave space between pots so leaves lie freely and stems do not catch each other. The four colours may work together, but one plant might need a slightly different distance from the light source. Even frost-free warmth helps; cold ventilation draughts and positions directly above radiators bring unnecessary changes. A decorative position remains suitable only when roots can still be checked easily.

Each orchid shows its own water need

Roots and moisture are easier to see in transparent growing pots. Healthy roots may look silvery when dry and greener after watering; above-ground aerial roots are considered separately. Combine this observation with pot weight and substrate condition. Water or soak as needed with suitable room-temperature water, then let the plant drain completely. A still-wet orchid waits even if its three neighbours already need water. Do not put ice cubes on roots. They cause unnecessary cold stimulus and do not replace an even supply. Water in the leaf centre and outer pot is not left as a reserve.

The root space supports the next flowers

Suitable airy orchid substrate matters more than an especially large new pot. When repotting, check whether the existing mixture has broken down and become constantly wet. Keep firm healthy roots; remove clearly brown, soft dead sections selectively with clean tools. A compact propagation core may stay moist longer than visible outer bark, so the surface alone is not always sufficient. A necessary change can often be made calmly after flowering. Feed sparingly during growth according to the orchid fertiliser label and occasionally water without fertiliser so excessive salt residues do not build up. More fertiliser does not repair a damaged root.

When flowers leave, the plant remains

The end of flowers is not the end of a perennial orchid. Assess the stem by colour and firmness. Dry brown sections can be removed; a healthy green stem may be cut selectively above a bud, but this is not compulsory for every hybrid. A weakened plant may first concentrate on roots and new foliage. Not every orchid in the box responds at the same time or with the same fresh growth. Light and a healthy root space form the foundation for later flowers. Extra cold treatment without knowing the plant is not a blanket solution.

Observation makes a small collection manageable

Continue keeping the four orchids bright and frost-free in winter. Water use may fall with slower growth; check rather than continuing a rigid summer rhythm. Look beneath leaves and in stem forks too for unusual deposits or pests. One old leaf is assessed differently from rapid leaf loss with soft roots. Note flower colour, new leaves and the next root tip for each plant. A simple label on your own pot helps recognition after flowering. The surprise thus remains more than a one-off colour display and develops into four plants accompanied attentively.

Good to know

Will I receive exactly white, pink, magenta and a patterned flower?

No. These colours are an example in the scene; the actual combination is selected.

Are the ceramic outer pots included?

Decorative outer pots are not part of the offer. Each orchid has the stated 9 cm pot size.

How tall are plants on delivery?

No fixed total height is given. None is inferred from the example picture.

Should I soak all four together?

Check each plant’s need first and let each drain completely. Wet plants wait.

Is the orchid used up after flowering?

No. With healthy roots, foliage and suitable care, it may continue growing and flower again.

Must every green flower stem be cut the same way?

Not as a blanket rule. Hybrid, stem condition and plant strength decide; dry parts are removed selectively.
