Your care table

TopicWhat to doWhy it helps
PositionBright with mainly indirect daylight.Light partial shade still daylight; dark rooms slow development.
WaterLet upper soil dry, check ball and weight.Dry surface can cover moist earth; avoid prolonged severe drying.
DrainageWater thoroughly, drain and empty outer pot.Standing water displaces root air.
Water qualityBrown tips call for water/salt checks too.Fluoride sensitivity and salts may contribute; tips alone no diagnosis.
SoilLoose houseplant earth, drainage holes.Permeability combines water holding/root air.
FeedModerate labelled feed in active growth.Count pre-fed soil, reduce with little winter growth.
RepottingWhen the rootball fills the pot, repot in spring into a slightly larger container.Unused soil dries slowly and complicates water checks.
Pruning/propagationClean trunk cuts only if needed, healthy shoots.New crowns may form below cut; leaf alone no stem cutting.
WinterWarm bright, away from draughts/direct heater.Lower light reduces demand; dry heater air/cold pane stress leaves.
1. Check moisture

Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.

2. Water slowly

Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.

3. Let it drain

Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.

Narrow green leaves give room height

Two slim woody trunks carry crowns at different levels. Long narrow leaves radiate, green blades edged only finely reddish brown. Original looks light and airy. Beside chair, gaps between trunks stay visible and tufts enliven calm background. Bright position beside window reveals lines. Leave distance from paths so tips neither bend nor brush constantly. Simple outer pot shows green well; nursery pot must lift out conveniently for water.

Familiar dragon tree with green leaves

Dracaena marginata familiar trade name; botanical accounts also Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia. Asparagus family, natural origin Madagascar and neighbouring islands. Flat sword leaves; shown form mainly green with narrow dark edge. Other offers show broader red zones or pale lengthwise stripes. No own cultivar name promised. Older lower leaves fall gradually during slow growth, showing ringed stem. Rare indoor blooms not primary cultivation reason.

Delivery contains mixed trio

Linked offer includes three different dragon trees each 17 cm pot about 75 cm total including pot. Paired trunks stand together per pot. Scene/detail show green component not individually orderable by link. Whole original group additionally in gallery, no fixed named cultivar list. Check each ball after unpacking since moisture varies. Lift by pot. Check drainage, free bent leaves without pulling crowns apart. Still-moist ball needs no automatic first water.

Partial shade still needs daylight

Bright mainly indirect position suits. Morning sun possible after gradual adaptation; light curtain shields hot noon through glass. Light partial shade means usable daylight, not dark corner/windowless bathroom. Look toward window from pot: furniture/curtains blocking it reduce light. Warm room about 18–25 °C guidance. Avoid cold draught and immediately above heater. Move away from open edge in winter airing. Occasional gentle turns balance crown direction.

Check roots instead of calendar

Let upper soil dry between watering. Cautiously feel and compare weight; dry crust can hide moist soil. When needed thoroughly water mix, drain and empty cover. Constant little sips wet only part of ball and obscure judgement. Fixed weekly date ignores winter light, heat and roots. Also avoid prolonged strong drying. Recurrent brown tips: assess water quality, salts and dry heating air together. Known fluoride sensitivity; suitable rainwater may help. Brown tip alone no certain diagnosis.

Change roots and crowns only when needed

Loose houseplant soil and holes retain root air. Repot in spring only ball clearly filling pot; small size step enough. Unused earth stays wet long. Moderate labelled feeding during growth, account for pre-fed mix. Darker winter often less supply. Healthy crowns need no regular shaping. Later too tall, clean trunk cut may stimulate shoots below, consciously planned form change. Healthy stem pieces/suitable shoot cuttings used for propagation. Single severed leaf unsuitable base; roots/new shoots need time and warmth.

Calm observation through winter

Remove dust gently with soft damp cloth supporting narrow leaves. Check undersides/crowns for sucking pests. Less winter growth matches less light, no reason for strong feeding. Unusually wet soil first assess outlet, pot size and actual site. Individual ageing lower leaves normal on healthy growing plant. Note each trio plant instead of automatic identical treatment to recognise water differences. Ornamental dragon trees can harm if eaten; place beyond small children/chewing pets.

Good to know

Can green plant be ordered singly?

Linked item trio of differing dragon trees. Scene/detail green component not individually offered there.

What mean17 cm,75 cm and paired trunks?

17 cm pot, about 75 cm total including pot; trunks together per pot. Three plants supplied.

Does green form have own cultivar name?

No private name promised here. Mainly green fine reddish-brown-edged foliage within set.

Can shaded bathroom work?

Only usable daylight and warmth. Light partial shade not dark/windowless corner.

How often water?

Check each rootball/weight. Water when upper zone dry, drain; fixed weekly gap not all seasons.

Are falling lower leaves always care fault?

Individual old leaves may drop exposing stem. Many yellow leaves/wet roots require roots/drainage/site checks.

Can cut leaf produce new crown?

Healthy stem/shoot sections used, leaf not replacing stem tissue. New roots/shoots not immediate promise.
