|---|---|---|
| Identity | Connect Hokomarevo and Magical Revolution. | Blue and pink offers belong to same named selection. |
| Light | Sheltered bright partial shade or gentle sun. | Wind and heat raise water needs, especially in pots. |
| Soil | Moisture-holding draining soil with free outlet. | Moist roots should not remain in water. |
| Blue colour | For blue cultivation choose suitable acidic soil and preferably rainwater. | Soil reaction and aluminium availability affect blue and pink. |
| Planting | Keep existing rootball height and water carefully. | Original rootball still needs checks after planting. |
| Water | Water beneath canopy according to actual moisture. | Rain on leaves and heads does not always reach roots. |
| Feed | Follow needs and label; distinguish bed and container. | Overfeeding replaces neither water nor suitable soil. |
| Pruning | Remove old heads to strong buds in spring. | Deep annual cutting may reduce next flowering. |
| Winter | Protect container roots and check dryness on frost-free days. | Leaf fall and compactness do not remove root needs. |
For young plants, feel the soil directly at the root ball. The surface and deeper soil may have different moisture levels.
Water thoroughly after planting; later, water according to the soil, weather and establishment rather than a fixed calendar.
Avoid standing water. For plants in containers, also check that water runs out of the drainage hole.
Many small flowers form a head
Magical Revolution stands out through many small decorative flowers in rounded heads. Broad toothed leaves sit below on compact shrub. Hokomarevo is independently evidenced cultivar, Magical Revolution its trade name. Breeder presents blue and pink together as colours of same selection. Linked shop offer is blue. Young green buds beside blue heads and later changed colours belong to annual cycle; a photograph captures only one moment.
Compact guides rather than imposing a centimetre ceiling
Delivery specifies twenty-three-centimetre pot and about fifty-five centimetres total height including pot. Breeder gives compact culture up to about eighty centimetres; RHS places developed garden plants at one to one-and-a-half metres. They refer to different development and conditions. Allow spare room rather than treating eighty centimetres as unchangeable limit. Flowering and visible height change with pruning and annual phase. Lift by pot and check roots before choosing lasting position.
Morning light, less afternoon heat
Bright partial shade or gentle sun with reliably moist soil suits this compact shrub. Windy balcony leaves and heads may lose much water while dark container warms. Choose shelter with accessible soil checks. Humus-rich moisture-holding draining mixture and free outlet belong together. About one metre spacing guides garden beds, accounting for later habit and care access. Adequate room for developed roots matters more in pots than initial compact outline.
Blue also depends on roots
Soil reaction and available aluminium compounds influence colour of blue or pink mopheads. To continue blue as far as possible use suitable acidic hydrangea soil and preferably rainwater. Adequate supply still takes priority over ideal water during shortage. A blue purchase does not guarantee identical lifetime colour in arbitrary soil. Later greenish and reddish head ageing also belongs to selection. Avoid random additives; appropriate colour treatments only by instructions with suitable soil.
Do not overlook original roots
Plant in spring or autumn mild weather in frost-free workable soil at original surface height. Avoid waterlogging and hot dry ground. Water beforehand as needed and thoroughly afterwards. Particularly check original ball in following weeks even when surrounding soil looks moist. Heads and leaves may intercept rain. Water soil below foliage as needed and let it escape. Pots need more frequent checks; rigid timing ignoring weather and moisture is unreliable.
Keep flower-capable structure when cutting
Round heads may remain over winter. In spring remove old heads to first strong healthy bud pair below when buds and possible frost damage are clear. Strong annual cutting as for some panicle hydrangeas does not automatically suit this mophead; it may remove previous-year flowering structure. Selectively remove individual very old basal wood from established older shrubs. Small delivery plant needs no radical shaping plan. Check live wood after late frost rather than shortening whole shrub preventively.
Observe colour, maintain reliable supply
Breeder describes darker reddish age colours over months. Weather, flower age and culture determine actual change and decorative duration; no guaranteed months-long flowering condition follows. Feed by actual need and label; good garden soil and limited containers start differently. Shrub loses leaves in winter while roots are still checked on frost-free days. Pots need protection from severe cold and waterlogging. Gloves are useful; leaves and flowers are inedible and belong beyond children and pets.

Good to know
Are Blue and Pink different cultivars?
Breeder lists both under Magical Revolution, cultivar Hokomarevo. Colour can change with soil.
Will it definitely stay below 80 cm?
No. Breeder gives compact culture up to about 80 cm, RHS 1–1.5 m for developed garden plants. Plan for culture and spare space.
Do 55 cm include pot?
Yes, shop total includes 23 cm container, not later garden height.
Why can blue become pink?
Soil reaction and available aluminium affect colour. Delivered blue does not guarantee unchanged colour in any soil.
Are green or reddish age colours wrong?
Breeder describes ageing heads changing colour. Check moisture and health alongside.
Can I prune hard like a panicle hydrangea?
Not automatically. Retain previous-year flowering structure and remove old heads to healthy buds in spring.
