Your care table
| Topic | What to do | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Sunny to lightly partly shaded and sheltered. | A scent name does not replace a bright location. |
| Summer start | Acclimatise gradually after frost risk. | Foliage needs a transition into outdoor light. |
| Water | Water the root ball after surface drying. | Continue checking young pots. |
| Drainage | Empty cover pots and saucers. | Roots must not stand constantly in water. |
| Soil | Choose well-drained planting soil. | Air and moisture belong together. |
| Nutrients | Follow the label during growth; account for pre-fertilisation. | More fertiliser does not solve every leaf fault. |
| Shape | Shorten young tips gently when needed. | Give new branches room. |
| Winter | Bright and frost-free; water less. | No winter-hardy bedding cultivation promised. |
Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.
Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.
Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.
The crinkled leaf tells the name
The name crispum refers to the folded, crinkled leaf edges. Green foliage sits on branching shoots and looks lively even without flowers. The species is described as a lemon-scented pelargonium. Gentle contact with a leaf can make the scent perceptible; how distinct it seems depends on plant and perception. The shop lists this scented pelargonium under a striking trade name. The portrait concentrates on leaf shape, growth and care. It does not guarantee reliable repelling of mosquitoes or wasps.
A small pot and a later cultivated height
A 12 cm pot is specified. The roughly forty-five-centimetre height also mentioned is a cultivation figure, not a confirmed delivery height. No additional total height is invented. For later arrangement, the shop suggests about fifty centimetres spacing. The species may develop into a branching, partly woody plant. Plan lateral room and an accessible soil surface rather than wedging the young pot between two larger crowns. The original shows a foliage plant; flowers are not visible in the delivery motif.
Sun, air and gradual acclimatisation
A sheltered sunny to lightly partly shaded position suits cultivation. After transport, introduce stronger sun gradually. The plant stays outdoors only after frost risk. A bright gardening table or sunny terrace allows regular observation of the foliage. Actual light quantity matters, not just the decorative position of the table. Air movement helps dense leaves dry again after moisture. At the same time, do not hang the small pot in hot, constantly drying wind.
Soil takes priority over a scented label
Check the surface and root ball before watering. After surface drying starts, supply water according to need during active growth, then let it drain completely. Drought tolerance does not turn a young small pot into a plant that can go unchecked for weeks. Consumption is much lower in cooler winter quarters. Do not answer hanging foliage over already wet soil with more water. Leaf shape cannot reliably reveal root condition; consider soil moisture, pot weight and drainage together.
A branching crown grows with care
Structurally stable free-draining planting soil gives roots moisture and air. Choose a larger container according to actual root development. Feed sparingly during growth following the fertiliser label and account for pre-fertilisation. Young tips can be shortened gently in spring or early summer to encourage further branching. Remove damaged parts specifically. When problems arise, look under leaves and at shoot nodes. Several strong actions at once make observation difficult: after moving, do not also prune hard, repot and fertilise as a precaution.
Scented foliage remains an ornamental plant
Move the perennial pelargonium to a bright frost-free position before frost. Less light changes its supplies; continue checking the root ball without keeping it constantly wet. This pleasantly scented ornamental plant is not described as food or a home remedy here. A leaf close-up in the plant book can show its edge and folding. Notes on summer position, branching and winter quarters fit alongside it. Observe the youngest shoots too: they show whether light and supplies support further branching. A single photograph does not replace development over several weeks.

Good to know
Is 45 cm the delivery height?
No. The shop gives growth height; the 12 cm pot is confirmed.
Which flowers are present on delivery?
The original motif shows a foliage plant, not guaranteed flowers.
Does the scented pelargonium reliably repel insects?
Reliable protection is not guaranteed in this portrait.
Is it a winter-hardy Geranium?
No. Pelargonium is overwintered frost-free.
Should the root ball stay completely dry for a long time?
Even a drought-tolerant species is checked regularly in a small pot and watered according to need during growth.
