Your care table

TopicWhat to doWhy it helps
LightChoose a bright position with filtered daylight.Strong colour does not mean tolerance of hot direct sun.
WaterCheck the nearly dry root ball and pot weight, then supply room-temperature water.Leaf reserves do not permit prolonged complete water shortage.
DrainageDrain freely after watering or dipping.Water beneath the inner pot must not stand at the roots for days.
CompostUse loose orchid bark and renew broken-down mix later.Air spaces are decisive for this root culture.
WarmthKeep warm and protected from draughts year-round.The tropical hybrid group needs no cold winter rest.
FeedingDuring active growth use moderate orchid fertiliser according to the label. An extra fertiliser reserve does not force violet repeat flowering.
Aerial rootsRetain healthy firm roots at the pot edge. They belong to epiphytic growth and are not a visual fault.
CheckingRegularly inspect leaf undersides, stem bases and crown.Pests or wet soft bases may remain unnoticed beneath flowers.
1. Check moisture

Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.

2. Water slowly

Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.

3. Let it drain

Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.

Look at violet flowers at eye level

Morelia adds strong colour within a manageable plant shape. The original shows rounded broad floral segments in rich violet to deep magenta. Their narrow paler margins remain visible as a fine line; small yellowish details lie in the darker lip. Side flowers and unopened buds animate the branched structure. On a low side table, flowers can also be viewed obliquely from above. The green rosette below remains part of the plant. Do not place the orchid so close to upholstered seating that an arm or cushion regularly brushes its delicate stems. A calm open place with genuine light access is better.

Morelia is a documented named hybrid selection

Exotenherz calls this Phalaenopsis hybrid Morelia and gives 9 cm pot diameter and approximately 30–35 cm height for the selected offer. Original producer Kolibri also lists Morelia independently; OK Plant’s assortment shows the name separately. Morelia is a Phalaenopsis hybrid selection with the described rich violet flower appearance. Current small delivery size is distinguished from later leaves and newly formed stems; no unchanging final measurement is promised.

Strong colour needs a protected light position

A warm interior with plenty of filtered daylight suits this orchid. Dark-coloured petals do not prove special sun resistance. At strongly sunny windows, a light curtain protects from hot direct midday sun without permanently moving the plant to the dark room centre. Avoid cold draughts and a position directly beside heating. After transport open packaging sideways and touch the pot rather than branched stems where possible. A stable position makes open flowers, new buds and leaf condition easier to observe. Further care still needs a suitable warm bright position in lower-light winter.

The small root ball has its own rhythm

The green rosette can store water, but the root zone must not completely dry for a long time. Check the inner pot before each watering: is compost nearly dry, are visible roots firm and rather silvery, and has the pot become noticeably lighter? Then water at room temperature or dip briefly. Leaf centre and axils remain above the waterline. Afterwards drain all excess and return the container dry. On warm days the small root ball needs more attention than with low evaporation. Checking comes before the calendar. A full outer pot and daily small sips instead complicate reliable moisture assessment.

A decorated original does not replace airy cultivation

The clean shop original shows several Morelia plants in a decorated container with accompanying material. It is labelled as an arrangement and is not part of the associated individual offer. For your own care, inner pots stay accessible and freely draining. Bark-based orchid compost creates airy root space; ordinary fine potting compost is not a substitute. Retain healthy firm outer roots. When the mix breaks down heavily or remains wet for a long time, active roots provide a suitable renewal opportunity. Remove damaged soft roots with clean tools and protect living areas. Choose only appropriate extra pot space without creating a large moist surrounding zone.

Leaves and roots remain valuable after flowering

Fading belongs to the life of this perennial indoor orchid. Open flowers arrive at different ages and may fall gradually. This does not automatically mean more water or fertiliser is needed. Moderate nutrient supply according to the label accompanies active leaf and root growth. Fully dry stems are later removed; a green stem may branch again on a vigorous plant. With weakened roots, recovery takes priority. The next flowers may differ in number and arrangement from the original. A warm bright position and healthy roots prepare further development without promising fixed duration or a certain yearly date.

Inspect carefully beneath the violet flowers

Occasionally check leaf undersides, stem bases and inner pot edges. New sticky patches or cottony nests deserve closer inspection. The leaf centre stays dry; carefully absorb accidental water. One lower leaf may slowly age while a new leaf grows. If several leaves rapidly soften and the root ball is wet, first check roots. Rich colour remains the visible feature, not the only observation. Firm leaves and new root tips are interesting between flowering stages too. This supports Morelia as a small living orchid without treating every photograph or original arrangement as a permanent target.

Good to know

Is Morelia only a general colour ?

No. The original producer lists Morelia as its own named selection; the specific original shows the matching rich violet flowers.

What height does the offer give ?

Approximately 30–35 cm with 9 cm pot diameter. Other delivery sizes from producer series are not transferred.

Is the multi-plant original arrangement included ?

The original is a decorated example. The associated offer is one Morelia in a 9 cm pot.

Should it be dry and cold in winter ?

No. It remains a warm indoor orchid; in lower light water less often according to actual root-ball demand.

How do I recognise a repotting need ?

Broken-down mix remaining wet for a long time or crowded roots are reasons; healthy aerial roots alone are not sufficient.

Is another flowering certain ?

It is possible on healthy plants. Timing, form and flower count depend on development and culture.
