Your care table

TopicWhat to doWhy it helps
LightKeep bright in filtered daylight.Strong midday sun can heat leaves and flowers.
WaterCheck roots, substrate and pot weight before watering.Silvery roots and almost dry substrate often indicate fresh need.
DrainageLet it drain completely after watering or soaking.Orchid roots need air and must not remain enclosed in wetness for long.
SubstrateUse loose, bark-based orchid substrate.Ordinary heavy potting soil does not suit epiphytic roots.
WarmthKeep warm throughout the year and protect from cold draughts.Phalaenopsis is a tropical indoor orchid.
NutritionDuring active growth, give orchid fertiliser sparingly according to the label.A moderate supply supports roots and new leaves.
After floweringRemove dry stems; assess green ones according to plant condition.Healthy plants can branch again; weak ones first need recovery.
ChecksKeep leaf bases dry and examine roots regularly.Water in the crown and constantly wet substrate encourage damage.
1. Check moisture

Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.

2. Water slowly

Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.

3. Let it drain

Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.

White flowers need no loud frame

Niagara Fall White shows large pale flowers, with trained stems drawing a soft arch above the foliage. Beside warm wood and a calm wall, it looks clear without becoming severe. The yellowish centre remains a small accent in the white flowers. We like leaving free space around outer flowers so they neither brush curtains nor get knocked when passing. The broad green foliage should remain visible too. It continues supporting the plant when individual flowers have long entered their next life phase.

The specific offer is white

The shop title and original image show this Niagara Fall with white flowers. The 12 cm pot is delivered at about fifty-five to sixty centimetres total height, including the pot and flowering structure. The scene follows this tall trained form. A decorative container and furniture are not included. Numbers of open flowers and buds may change during development. Set the plant stably in its outer pot with the inner pot accessible. An attractive outer pot should obstruct neither root checks nor drainage.

A bright position stays protected from heat

Warm filtered daylight suits this Phalaenopsis. Strong midday sun behind glass may heat white flowers and broad leaves. Check the position during the warm part of the day rather than judging brightness only in the morning. A light curtain can soften direct sun. The plant stays in a sheltered, warm indoor space all year. Avoid cold air during ventilation and heat sources immediately beside it. After a change of position, do not answer every small flower loss by moving it immediately. Consider temperature, light and roots first, and give the orchid time to settle.

Find its own rhythm with the roots

A transparent inner pot makes checking easier. Firm silvery roots and almost dry substrate may show that more water is needed. Consider weight and moisture deeper in the root ball too. Water thoroughly with room-temperature water and then let it drain completely. Keep leaves and the crown above the waterline when soaking. Do not leave a water reserve in the outer pot. We check more often on warm, bright days than in low light. A rigid weekly dose may be too much for a still-wet mixture or too late if drying is rapid.

A loose root ball preserves strong roots

Orchid bark creates spaces where roots receive air. Heavy ordinary potting soil changes these conditions and is not a suitable substitute. Visible aerial roots belong to the plant; healthy firm areas remain. If the substrate breaks down badly over time, choose a suitable repotting time after flowering. Examine the root ball carefully and remove dead soft parts with clean tools. During active new leaf and root growth, feed sparingly according to the orchid fertiliser label. Heavy nutrition does not make a sick root healthy again; improve growing conditions first.

Continue accompanying it after flowering

A fading stem is no sign that the entire orchid is used up. New leaves and roots may prepare another flowering phase. Remove completely dry stems. A green stem on a vigorous plant may branch again; with a weak plant, recovery matters more than immediate flowers. The Niagara Fall form is trained for sale. Later flower stems may grow differently even if they carry white flowers again. A support may help gentle guidance. Do not force tender fresh shoots to bend just to recreate the first picture exactly.

Small checks keep the position alive

Avoid water collecting in the leaf centre and remove it gently after a careless watering. Look beneath foliage and around stem bases regularly. An old lower leaf may age differently from fresh growth; rapidly softening foliage together with wet soil, however, calls for a root check. Do not attend to the plant only when flowers are open. Between flowering phases we can learn its condition particularly well. White Niagara Fall thus remains a living companion rather than short-lived decoration. Its pale arch delights, and calm care beneath it gives room for whatever grows next.

Good to know

Which flower colour applies?

White, matching the shop title and original image of this version.

How large is the delivered plant?

12 cm pot diameter at about 55–60 cm total height including the pot.

Is a fixed watering day useful?

Check demand from roots, substrate and pot weight. Let it drain completely after every watering.

May I cut aerial roots?

Keep healthy firm aerial roots. They belong to its epiphytic growth habit.

Will new flower stems be arch-shaped again?

They may grow differently from the trained sales form. Support carefully if needed.

What happens after flowering?

Continue caring for the perennial orchid brightly and warmly. Remove dry stems and accompany healthy roots and new leaves.
