DrynessDo not deliberately dry it out completely for months.Fine forest-cactus shoots have limited reserves.
DrainageRemove remaining water from the pot cover or hanging basket.Standing water puts roots at risk.
CompostUse a loose, humus-rich mix with coarse structural ingredients.Roots need air and measured moisture.
FertiliserFeed sparingly during growth, following the label.Resting plants need few extra nutrients.
WinterKeep bright and frost-free, watering according to actual use.Growth and flowering phases may differ by species.
AssortmentCheck the exact delivery form and selection in the shop. The listing includes different Rhipsalis forms.
1. Check moisture

Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.

2. Water slowly

Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.

3. Let it drain

Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.

A cactus does not have to look prickly

Rhipsalis includes various cacti with branching, often hanging stems. What resembles a tangle of green threads consists mainly of stem sections rather than ordinary leaves. Many grow on trees in tropical forests. This origin explains their need for filtered light and airier, less extremely dry care. Flowers and possible fruits depend on the species; they are not generally promised for a changing assortment.

An assortment with varying forms

The linked listing states Rhipsalis in a 12 cm pot with approximately 15–20 cm total height and shows different growth forms. This does not guarantee a particular species or precisely the fine-stemmed form in the AI scene. Check the current selection and delivery contents in the shop before buying. The original photograph shows the assortment; the interior scene illustrates one possible use of a form. A hanging basket must be securely attached and accessible for watering.

Light as beneath an open canopy

A bright position with filtered daylight is suitable. Avoid hot midday sun, particularly after transport or a move. A sheltered outdoor position can suit it in summer if the plant is acclimatised gradually to stronger light. Exact tolerance also depends on the delivered form. A dark shelf is not a good permanent solution. Keep the plant frost-free and avoid cold draughts.

Let it dry, but do not forget it

The compost may dry between watering. Check the actual root ball, then water thoroughly as needed before removing excess water. Do not adopt a fixed weekly schedule: a small warm pot and cool winter quarters use water very differently. As a forest cactus, Rhipsalis is not deliberately left completely parched for months. Wrinkled stems may also occur when wet roots are damaged, so check before watering again.

A mix with air and organic matter

Choose a loose, humus-rich mix with coarse ingredients that retain their structure and drain reliably. Heavy soil alone is unsuitable. The nursery pot needs holes, even inside an attractive hanging cover. Repot only when there is a clear need for space, handling the stems carefully. Feed sparingly during active growth, following the label. Long healthy stems may hang down; pruning is needed only if space or condition requires it.

Adapt winter care to growth and form

Water less in winter when growth slows, but keep the plant bright and frost-free. Some forms flower at different times from others; their actual development takes priority over a general seasonal schedule. Inspect branch junctions for mealybugs and remove dead shoots cleanly. Do not eat unidentified fruits. If the exact species is later established through the dashboard or delivery label, the care record can be made more precise accordingly.

Good to know

Will I receive exactly the plant in the interior scene?

Not necessarily. The scene shows an example of one form; the shop listing includes different coral cacti.

Is Rhipsalis suitable for full sun?

Harsh midday sun is usually unsuitable. Bright, filtered light suits its woodland origin.

Should I water only once a week?

A fixed rhythm is unreliable. Check the root ball and adapt watering to position and season.

Are the green threads leaves?

They are mainly succulent stem sections, which branch differently depending on the species.
