Your care table
| Topic | What to do | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Bright and indirect, protected from hot sun. | A good position supports new spathes and healthy foliage. |
| Warmth | Steadily warm without cold draughts. | Small tropical plants chill quickly. |
| Water | Let upper compost dry slightly then supply the root ball. | The 7 cm pot has only a small reserve. |
| Watering | Soft room-temperature water; remove excess. | Roots should be moist but not continually enclosed in water. |
| Air | Combine higher humidity with adequate air exchange. | Continually wet leaves do not replace good room conditions. |
| Compost | Loose, slightly acidic and freely draining. | Fleshy roots need air. |
| Feed | Moderately during growth according to product instructions. | Oversupply does not replace missing light. |
| Handling | Do not consume; protect from nibbling children and animals. | Calcium oxalate crystals are irritating. |
Check the compost and pot weight. The care table explains how far the compost may dry.
Water only when needed. The water should reach the root ball without spilling over the rim.
Remove surplus water from the saucer or cachepot. Then return the plant to a suitable position.
The colour belongs to a special bract
What we often perceive as a large flamingo flower is the coloured bract, or spathe. The actual tiny flowers sit on the spadix in its centre. These offered mini anthuriums belong to the horticultural Andraeanum group. Glossy green leaves and coloured spathes make a compact living display. Botanical spelling andraeanum differs from andreanum frequently used in trade.
A variety selection in very small pots
The offer states 7 cm pots and approximately 20 to 25 cm total height. The original photograph shows different colours, not one plant with every shade. The scene represents a single illustrative pink form. Available colour, selection options and delivery contents follow the current offer. The small pot suits a bright tabletop but has little water reserve. Decorative outer pot, crockery and textiles are decoration and do not automatically belong with the plant.
The right table is bright and warm
Anthuriums like bright indirect light, steady warmth and a sheltered environment. Hot direct sun can damage leaves and spathes. A table can be a good permanent position if sufficient light reaches it; darker positions tolerated for occasional decoration are not automatically good growing locations. Avoid cold draughts and sharp temperature changes. Higher humidity helps, but wet leaves in still air are not the goal. When ventilating in winter, protect the small pot from chilling.
In a 7 cm pot the root ball decides watering time
Regularly check the upper compost layer. When it dries a little, supply the root ball evenly and let water drain afterwards. The shop’s idea of a fixed maximum weekly watering is not adopted as a general rule here: small pots may need water sooner in warmth. Daily misting of the surface is not a reliable substitute for proper root-ball watering. Prefer soft room-temperature water. Continually wet compost and regular complete drying are both unfavourable.
Support roots and flowers with measured care
A loose slightly acidic structurally stable mix suits roots that need air. When roots clearly fill the pot, move into a slightly larger pot with drainage. Feed moderately during active growth according to the label. Remove old completely spent flower stems at their base using clean tools without injuring new leaves. Assess absent new spathes first in relation to light, roots and season. Extra feed alone cannot replace a suitable position.
Small checks help keep it enjoyable
Carefully remove dust from firm leaves using a soft damp cloth and support the leaf. Regularly check for aphids, mealybugs, scale insects and spider mites. Yellow leaves may indicate wet roots or other positioning problems among other causes; check compost first. Anthuriums contain irritating calcium oxalate crystals and are not edible table decoration. They remain a lovely gift if the recipient has a suitably bright warm position and keeps an eye on the small pot.
One plant, several views
Good to know
Will I get all the colours in the picture?
The photograph shows the variety selection. The colour actually offered and delivery contents are stated in the current shop offer.
Is the pink heart the flower?
It is a coloured bract. The tiny true flowers sit on the spadix in its centre.
Is a small sip once a week enough?
Not reliably. Check the root ball because light, warmth and the small pot alter demand.
Can daily misting replace watering?
No. Roots need appropriate even watering of the root ball; spray water on the surface does not reliably achieve this.
